2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan: a review by Autoportal.com
The German luxury car-makers, Mercedes-Benz has always seen a good turnover in India, thanks to the luxury and style obsessed nature of the Indians. The latest of the Benz cars is the two thousand sixteen Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan. However the company has refused to mention that the E stands for, it can be securely pronounced that the E can, in all probability, stand for ‘excellence’.
The cost of the basic model of the E-Class Sedan is 48.24 lakh and it increases up to the 1.31 crore. The E-Class sedan is available in twenty seven colors in India.
All the diesel and petrol variants of the E-Class come mated with a 7-speed Gtronic transmission system, which is very efficient and sleek. The diesel variants suggest a mileage of 11.1 kmpl city roads and 14.21 kmpl on highways, while the petrol engine gives out 8.Five kmpl on cities and 12.Three kmpl on highways. Tho’ the earlier E-Class cars have come with a V6, Two.8 liter petrol engine, which was modified into a more powerful V8 5liter CBU engine, the latest E-Class is fitted with a 3498cc twenty four valve V6 petrol engine, which is very refined and slick, and give out two hundred seventy two bhp power and three hundred fifty five Nm of torque. The two diesel variants displace two thousand one hundred forty three cc and two thousand nine hundred eighty seven cc and they give out power of two hundred four and two hundred sixty five bhp, respectively. Convenience is evident as soon as the sleek doors are opened and the passenger comes in the cabin to practice the royal feel. The most eye-catching feature is the giant number of switches on the dashboard and around the steering wheel, but all those knobs only add to the glamour. Just above the audio system is the Five.8 inches touch screen unit and a climate control unit. The instrument cluster has five back lit dials in white color as well as a digital central display, which gives out information to the driver regarding gear, fuel consumption, temperature of the car and transmission mode. The audio system consists of USB port as well as eight speakers, which account for the outstanding sound system. The entry level E-Class variants have open pore brown ash wood inserts on the door panels and dashboard, while the high end trims are incorporated with gloss black ash wood finish for the door and dashboard. The premium upholstered seats are also ergonomically designed and give finish support from the head till the knee.
While there is a stark similarity in the earlier E-Class sedans and the yet-to-be-launched sedans, the outward structure is made in such a way that there is uniqueness in this fresh model too. The earlier oval headlamps have now given way to parallelogram-shaped ones and there are hockey-stick designed LED running daylight lamps.
