Car pursue in Westminster finishes after driver collides with elderly pedestrian and a bus
A car pursue in Westminster has ended after the driver crashed into a bus, an elderly pedestrian and a police motorcyclist.
The motorist, who was desired for burglary and was missing from prison, was being pursued by police in the central London borough around 2pm when he crashed.

T he man was caught after being chased by “numerous vehicles”, witnesses said. The route eleven bus, which travels inbetween Fulham town hall and Liverpool Street Station, was taken out of service.
Fran Perrow, from Twickenham, said the “dramatic” events took place very quickly on Saturday afternoon when the area was thronging with tourists.
She said: “Very first of all, there was a big police pursue and there were at least seven police vehicles.”
Ms Perrow said the act unfolded opposite Charing Cross Station in an area that was “truly busy with lots of tourists milling around”.
Recalling what she witnessed, she said: “All of a sudden there were a lot of police sirens, there were a lot of horns, tourists were leaping back off the road on to the pavement.”
Ms Perrow said the police vehicles came “charging from every direction” during the incident.
“This all just happened very quickly – tourists leaping out of the way, an awful lot of noise, an awful lot of confusion, and people scattering in different directions to get out of the chaos,” she said.
Ms Perrow said the police vehicles then disappeared, adding: “Then we noticed there was a man running down the road, absolutely legging it down the road. He was all in black.”
She said he was running “like his life depended on it”.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed the vehicle had been in a collision with a bus, a police motorcyclist and a pedestrian in his 70s.
“The London Ambulance Service was called to the Strand and the pedestrian – a man in his 70s – was assessed by paramedics. He declined further treatment. We await further details as to whether the police motorcyclist sustained any injuries.
“The driver of the vehicle fled the scene but was detained a brief while later. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, failing to stop, dangerous driving and wished missing for come back to prison.”
A Transport for London spokesman confirmed the bus had been hit and said all passengers securely left the vehicle following the crash.
The motorist was taken to custody in central London, where he remains.
