Doughnut delivery driver injured in foiled car-jacking
A Melbourne grandfather has been left with a badly cracked gam and bruised eyes after being set upon by a thief attempting to steal his doughnut delivery van.
The attempted carjacking unfolded at Four:15 this morning as 62-year-old John Yosifidis was ripping off off two boxes of doughnuts to a United service station in Altona North.
CCTV cameras display that the victim drove his van into the service station at the same time as the three thieves drove their van in.
One of them climbed out and, as Mr Yosifidis was inwards the store, attempted to steal his clearly branded delivery van, which was still running with the keys in the ignition.
Mr Yosifidis said he witnessed the crime unfolding and ran to stop it. He snatched the keys from his van and threw them as far as he could.
“I opened the door, he was telling something, I grabbed the keys and he began punching me,” Mr Yosifidis said from his hospital bed.
Not only did the thief repeatedly punch Mr Yosifidis, but in the fight, the delivery van spinned over his foot, leaving him trapped and in agonising anguish.

Police are still hunting the three thieves.
