DRAMATIC Movie: Teenagers charged in high-speed pursue, crash in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were in a high-speed pursuit with a white Scion Tuesday afternoon that led them down Independence Boulevard and onto Interstate 277.

Mychal Samuel, 16, and Luis Espinoza, 17, were charged in connection to the pursue.

The pursue, which reached speeds over one hundred mph, led to Interstate 85.

Police said the vehicle was carjacked on Monday.

The pursue ended when the car crashed into another vehicle at North Tryon and Dorton streets, where two people hopped and ran.

The crash victim told Channel nine what she was thinking after the crash.

«I hope they get them,» crash victim Angie Davis said.

Chopper nine was the only helicopter over the pursue.

Both suspects were quickly apprehended by CMPD after a brief foot pursuit.

Carlos Perez said his vehicle was carjacked Monday night.

«They had the gun at my neck and they had to pull me by the T-shirt, off the car,» Perez said.

Police said they used Chopper 9’s live feed to help them capture one of the suspects.

The woman in the car that the suspects crashed into was not injured.

Samuel was charged with resisting public officer, onslaught government official, failing to give info/aid. He was released from jail Wednesday morning.

Espinoza is still in jail.

He was charged with fleeing arrest with a motor vehicle, resisting a public officer, robbery with dangerous weapon, possessing a stolen motor vehicle, possessing handguns.

Espinoza was also charged with conspiracy robbery with a dangerous weapon, no operator’s license, failure to heed blue light/siren, hit and run, property harm, and reckless driving.
